Sporting Clube de Goa midfielder Avrhisto Fernandes commits suicide

2018 started with terrible news for Indian football out of Goa as talented Sporting Clube de Goa midfielder Avrhisto Fernandes committed suicide according to reports coming out of Goa on New Years Day.

Why the youngster took this drastic step to end his life is unknown. What is known is that after having gone out on New Years Eve with friends, Avrhisto Fernandes returned home and was found hanging in his room the next morning in Saligao. What happened in between is unknown.

Sporting Clube de Goa in a press statement said, “The management, technical team and the players of Sporting Clube de Goa deeply mourn the sudden passing away of their young star Avrhisto Fernandes under tragic circumstances at his Saligao residence early morning today.”

Avrhisto started his football at Chubby Cheeks High School, Pilerne. He went on to play for Brazil Futbol Academia, Sporting Clube de Goa juniors, Sesa Football Academy and Calangute Association before returning to join the senior team of Sporting Clube de Goa for the Goa Professional League.
