Sporting Clube de Goa defeated Vasco Sports Club by 2-0 in a GFA Goa Professional League match played at Duler Stadium, Mapusa, on Thursday.

Victorino Fernandes and Abiola Afuwape were the goal scorers for Sporting Clube de Goa.

Vasco Sports Club and Sporting Clube de Goa, both started the match with the midfield play as both the sides looked to retain the ball. In the initial minutes of the match, Sporting Clube’s Sodiq Ibrahim tried to score a goal but was unsuccessful as he attempt went wide, however, in the 9th minute; Sporting’s Victorino Fernandes slotted the ball home through a spell-bound free-kick to give his side the desired lead.

Vasco SC player Clive Coelho tried his best not to give up and kept positive attitude towards the match but did not have any luck as he missed a couple of opportunities at the goal.

The best chance to level terms for Vasco SC came in the 44th minute however Schubert Pereira missed a sitter which left the Portowners disappointed as they went into the breather with the scoreboard reading 1-0 in favour of Flaming Oranje.

Sporting Clube de Goa looked revitalized post the half time break as they looked to score more and managed to get past the rival defence in the 60th minute as Abiola Afuwape headed home a brilliant cross by Daryl Costa.

This did not stop Vasco SC as they kept their positive attitude and continued the game with intention to thrive against Sporting Club De Goa however the Portowners fumbled at the goal thus the match ending with a 2-0 result in favour of the Panjim side.
