The Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (Concacaf) confirmed on Wednesday evening the matchups for the semifinals of the 2018 Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League, immediately following the conclusion of the quarterfinal round of the region’s most important club tournament.

Quarterfinal action culminated on Wednesday night in Panama City and Guadalajara, where CD Guadalajara and Club America joined Toronto FC and New York Red Bulls in the semifinals.

The brackets for the semifinals were cemented at the Concacaf Champions League draw in December, meaning CD Guadalajara will face New York Red Bulls, and Toronto FC will face Club America. Per regulation, the club to host the decisive second leg of each semifinal will be the club that has accumulated the most points through the four matches of the round of 16 and quarterfinals.

Therefore, Club America (3-1-0, 10 points) will host the return leg of their series with Toronto FC (2-1-1, 7 points), and New York Red Bulls (3-1-0, 10 points) will host the return leg of the other semifinal versus CD Guadalajara (3-0-1, 9 points).

The semifinals of the Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League begin the first week of April, when CD Guadalajara will host the New York Red Bulls. The two North American clubs advanced to the third round of the competition by overcoming Seattle Sounders FC 3-1 and Club Tijuana 5-1 on aggregate, respectively.

In the other first-leg semifinal, Liga MX’s Club America will travel to Canada to face reigning MLS Champion Toronto FC. Club America defeated Panama’s Tauro FC by 7-1 on aggregate in the quarterfinals, while Toronto FC overcame Tigres UANL on the away-goal tiebreaker after a thrilling 4-4 stalemate over 180 minutes in Toronto and Monterrey.

The decisive second leg semifinals in Mexico City and New York will take place the week of April 10-12. All semifinal match dates and kickoff times are under review with the clubs and leagues and will be determined in the coming days.

The tenth edition of the Concacaf’s continental club championship is the first to feature the newly introduced, action-packed, home-and-away knockout format, which after the first four weeks has resulted in a field reduced from the original 16 to just four champion clubs, each one step closer to the Confederation crown.

The range of dates the home-and-away final series are set for the last two weeks of April. The winner of the 2018 CONCACAF Champions League will represent the region in the 2018 FIFA Club World Cup in the United Arab Emirates.
