The Bundesliga remains the football league with the most spectators in the world. According to official figures by the 18 clubs, in the 2017-18 season an average of 43,879 tickets were sold per match.

This is the second highest figure of all seasons since 1963-64. It was only during the record season of 2011-12, that this figure was bigger (44,293). Compared to the 2016-17 season (40,693), an increase of 8 per cent was achieved. Complimentary tickets and free tickets are included in these statistics, unused tickets were not taken into account. The statistics are based on the number of sold tickets, as is the case since the beginning of these recordings. Other leagues also use this basis for their ticket statistics.

In the Bundesliga 2 an average amount of 17,473 ticket owners per match were registered in the 2017-18 season (2016-17: 21,560). The development of the attendance-figures of both leagues also results from alterations to the composition of the leagues due to promoted and relegated teams.

In total, 18,773,618 ticket owners were recorded in the Bundesliga and the Bundesliga 2 during the 2017-18 season.
