Borussia Dortmund register a 3-1 comeback win against Liverpool FC

International Champions Cup (ICC)

Borussia Dortmund registered a 3-1 win against Liverpool FC in an 2018 International Champions Cup (ICC) match played at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, USA on Sunday.

The Bundesliga giants, who secured a 1-0 win against Manchester City in their first ICC match on Saturday, had their difficulties in the early stages of the mid-day fixture.

Liverpool opened the score sheet in the 25th minute, when defender Virgil van Dijk’s header found the back of the net to hand the 2017/18 UEFA Champions League losing finalist a 1-0 lead at half-time.

Dortmund levelled the score line in the 66th minute through Christian Pulisic, who converted a penalty kick. The United States international even put his side in the lead, when his shot from the edge of the box hit the target in the 89th minute.

Danish youngster Jacob Bruun Larsen added another goal in injury time to secure BVB a 3-1 win against LFC coached by former Dortmund manager Jürgen Klopp.

Borussia Dortmund will take on SL Benfica in their last ICC match on Thursday, while Liverpool continue their ICC campaign with matches against Manchester City (July 26) and Manchester United (July 28).

A total of 18 teams take part in the 2018 International Champions Cup and each team will play three matches in multiple venues across North America, Europe and Singapore.
