A-League side Melbourne City FC hammered Kerala Blasters FC 6-0 in the opening match of the Toyota Yaris LaLiga World tournament, India’s first pre-season tournament, at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi on Tuesday.

Dario Vidosic opened the score sheet in the 30th minute, when he headed home a Luke Brattan cross. The visitors increased their lead three minutes, as Riley McGree’s shot from the edge of the area beat Blasters goalkeeper Dheeraj Singh Moirangthem.

Melbourne City used the second half to give some playing time to the youngsters in their squad. The changes didn’t impinge City’s performance as they continued to play their powerful football.

Lachlan Wales (50′), Ramy Najjarine (75′), Bruno Fornaroli (79′) and a second to McGree (56′) sealed a 6-0 win for the Melbourne City.

The Toyota Yaris LaLiga World tournament will continue on Friday with Girona FC taking on Melbourne City, while the LaLiga side face hosts and Indian Super League club Kerala Blasters on Saturday.
