Pradip Choudhury receives ‘Mohun Bagan Ratna’ on Mohun Bagan Day

Asia’s oldest football side, Mohun Bagan Athletic Club, on Sunday, July 29 throughout the day celebrated its yearly Mohun Bagan Day in Kolkata.

The Mohun Bagan Day has been celebrated since 2001 on July 29 each year in honour of Mohun Bagan’s victory over the East Yorkshire Regiment in the final of the 1911 IFA Shield.

The recipient of the 2018 Mohun Bagan Ratna along with a cheque of INR 100,000 (1 lakh) was former club defender Pradip Choudhury, who in his club career captained Mohun Bagan.

The Late Karuna Shankar Bhattacharya award for the Best Footballer of 2017/18 season went to goalkeeper Shilton Paul, while Sourav Das was conferred the Best Youth Football Player award.

The Best Cricketer of the year award will be given to Sudip Chatterjee for his performances for the Mohun Bagan Cricket Team during the season.

Teenager Rahim Ali was conferred with a Special Award for his performances for the India U-17 national team in the FIFA U-17 World Cup India 2017 and for the Indian Arrows in the 2017/18 I-League.
