The Indian Women’s national team lost 1-4 against Fundación Albacete in their first match of the COTIF Tournament in Valencia, Spain on August 1, 2018.

Although the Indian Women took the lead in the 9th minute, the opponents absorbed the pressure, thwarted the Indians, seized the momentum in the midfield and eventually scored four times.

The Indians were awarded a penalty in the 8th minute for a foul inside the box which was gleefully converted by 2017 AIFF Woman Player of the Year Kamala Devi.

However, the lead did not last long as in the 29th minute, Fundación Albacete drew level slotting past Indian goalkeeper Panthoi Chanu.

Fundación Albacete doubled their lead in the 37th minute when they scored directly from a free-kick.

The Indians pressed hard for the equaliser but Albacete scored in the 47th minute and then in the 65th minute to complete the rout.

The Indian women next play Levante on August 3.
