Toni Kroos and Dzsenifer Marozsan win German Footballer of the Year Awards

Germany midfielder and Real Madrid star Toni Kroos has been named the German Footballer of the Year 2017/18, while Dzsenifer Marozsan clinched the German Women’S Footballer of the Year 2017/18 award.

Kroos claimed 185 of the 475 votes casted by the members of the Association of German Sports Journalists (VDS) in conjunction with popular football magazine kicker. SC Freiburg striker Nils Petersen (39 votes), Schalke defender Naldo (38), Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich (22) and Manchester City’s Leroy Sané (22) complete the Top 5 of the voting.

German Women’s national team captain and Olympique Lyonnais midfielder Dzsenifer Marozsan was adjudged German Women’S Footballer of the Year 2017/18 award, ahead of four players from German Women’s Bundesliga champions VfL Wolfsburg: Pernille Harder (70 votes), Alexandra Popp (58), Almuth Schult (30) and Lena Goeßling (19).

Former FC Bayern Munich coach Jupp Heynckes has been named the German Coach of the Year 2017/18. The 73-year-old gaffer claimed the award ahead of Schalke coach Domenico Tedesco and former Eintracht Frankfurt coach Niko Kovac.
