Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund sends out greetings to fans in India and Indians all around the world as the nation celebrates its Independence Day today, August 15.

The eight-time Bundesliga champions and four-time DFB-Pokal (German Cup) winners have come out with a special message from BVB Legend Karl-Heinz Riedle to show their respect for the country and to appreciate the support from football fans in India.

Former Germany international Riedle played 87 matches for Borussia Dortmund, while scoring 24 goals. The 1990 FIFA World Cup winner and 1997 UEFA Champions League winner had the opportunity to play against the Indian national team in a friendly match in 2000. The star striker scored two goals in the win against the Indian team which featured star players such as Baichung Bhutia, IM Vijayan, Jo Paul Ancheri and Renedy Singh.
