A celebration of the All India Football Federation (AIFF) and Mizoram Football Association (MFA) Grassroots programme, Grassroots Festival was held at Lammual in the afternoon of Saturday, October 27.

The festival was set-up to close a three month long course of grassroot football for over 200 children. This year’s grassroot programme is the 19th batch of the AIFF-MFA Grassroots.

Children of ages between 6 to 12 were divided into four age groups, playing in four separate pitches as they enjoyed themselves in the festival. The festival also included dinner for the children, their parents and officials.

The MFA Grassroots and Youth Development Committee Chairman P.C. Vanlalhruaia said, “We have been operating grassroots football non-stop since 2012 and our enthusiasm for developing our programme is still going very strong. We well continue celebrating our programme with festivals in the future.”

AIFF Development Officer Samson Ramengmawia also spoke at the festival saying, “We have the aim to develop an accomplished grassroots football programme where kids will have more enjoyable football learning sessions. We are working on developing new and better methods.”
