Mohammedan Sporting Club will travel to South India to play three successive away games in the ongoing 2019/20 Hero 2nd Division League.

The Black Panthers will face Hyderabad FC Reserves on February 26 at Gachibowli Stadium before taking on Chennaiyin FC Reserves at SSN College Ground on March 2 and Bengaluru FC Reserves on March 5 at Bangalore Football Stadium. The Black Panthers will leave for Hyderabad tonight.

Mohammedan SC are currently leading the log table in Group B with 9 points after three wins in as many games.

Winning matches outside Kolkata has been an ‘Achilles Heel’ for the Black Panthers during the previous two editions of 2nd Division League as Mohammedan SC won just 1 out of 8 matches they played outside Kolkata since 2017/18 season.

However, technical director Dipendu Biswas made it clear that they have the team that can do well in any part of the country.

“We are looking forward to this period of playing away from home. We look to play our normal game and it does not matter whether we are in Kolkata or anywhere else,” he said.

Defender Balwinder Singh will be missing the tour due to his father falling ill. The Black Panthers replaced him with Arjijit Singh with technical director sending Balwinder’s family his best wishes.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with Balwinder and his family during this difficult time and we understand that family obligations always come first.” said Biswas.
