AFC Challenge Cup: India vs Tajikistan

The Indian national team started its AFC Challenge Cup 2012 campaign with a 0-2 loss against Tajikistan at the Dashrath Stadium.

Akhtam Khamrakulov opened the scoresheet in the 60st minute, when the striker took advantage of an error in the Indian box and fired the ball past Indian keeper Karanjit Singh to give the Central Asians a 1-0 lead.

Tajikistan increased the lead only five minutes later, when Nuriddin Davronov found the back of the net with a powerful shot from the edge of the box.

Savio Medeira’s team will face the Philippines in the second Group B match on Sunday.
