Argentine legend Diego Armando Maradona is on his way for a short trip to Kerala. The 1986 FIFA World Cup winner is expected to reach the South Indian state on Tuesday evening.

Maradona has been invited by the Chemmanur International Jewellers for the opening of a new store and a helicopter service of Chemmanur Airlines in the city of Kannur on Wednesday.

The Kannur police is expecting a crowd of 50,000 people for the two functions in the football-crazy city and they have already confirmed full security measures for this special event.

The Argentine coach is also expected to attend a football match at the Municipal Stadium along with various state guests and former sports star including the “Black Pearl of Indian football” IM Vijayan.

It will be Maradona’s second visit to India after a memorable visit to football-crazy Kolkata in 2008.
