Indian national team

Indian national team coach Wim Koevermans has named a 20-member squad for the international friendly match against Yemen. The match is schedueled to take place at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Guwahati on November 14.

“We need to assess ourselves. We need more such matches,” the Dutchman told AIFF Media.

“Unless you play international friendlies you cannot gauge where you stand. We stay grateful to AIFF for arranging two International Friendlies in two months,” star skipper Sunil Chhetri said.

“It was a great feeling to have played in Guwahati in front of a full house in an international friendly against Malaysia last year. The passion for the sport in the state stays unparallel and we expect another full house cheering for us against Yemen,” the Sporting Clube de Portugal striker added.

Meanwhile, Koevermans has also named 12 stand-byes in case any of the players get injured or miss the game due to any other reason.

The Indian team is expected to arrive in Guwahati on November 11 [+ read more].
