World Champions Spain are set to take on Uruguay in an international friendly match at Doha in February.

The encounter between the reigning European and South American Champions is supposed to beat the big drum for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, while the Spaniards would cash 3m Euros (!) for the friendly match according to Spanish sports daily “AS”.

The appearance fee will be paid by the Qatar Football Association with the hope to get things rolling into the right direction with a close eye on the build-up to the big event in 2022.

The Spain v Urugay match would be played on February 7, 2013 according to Asociación Uruguaya de Fútbol president Sebastian Bauze. Bauze made the statement at the sidelines of the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup draw which is scheduled to take place in São Paulo later on Saturday.
