FC Bayern Munich and FC Barcelona have confirmed a clash of the two European giants for the “Uli Hoeneß Cup” as part of the pre-season preparations for the 2013/14 season.

The “Uli Hoeneß Cup” has been initiated to honour Bayern president Uli Hoeneß on the occasion of his 60th birthday. The match will be played at Munich’s Allianz Arena on July 24, 2013 and it will be the first match of Bayern’s new coach Pep Guardiola against his former club.

“I’m really looking forward to this match. I’d like to thank the Board of Directors for this 60th birthday gift. I’m especially pleased I’ll be able to support social and community projects with the proceeds,” Hoeneß told to Bayern’s official club website.

All proceeds from the “Uli Hoeneß Cup” will be donated by the Bayern president to charitable institutions.
