Sunil Chhetri: We will surely play to win the game

Churchill Brothers star striker Sunil Chhetri is confident ahead of his team’s I-League encounter against Mohun Bagan AC on Tuesday.

The Goan side could clinch the I-League title, if they win the match tomorrow and the players and officials are banking on their excellent record at home.

“We are playing at home. We have been very strong at home this season,” India skipper Sunil Chhetri told. “All the boys know the importance of the match and we will surely play to win the game.”

Talking about the team spirit, Sunil added: “The team unity has been the most important factor. The team does not contain too many big name players. The way we have come together and played has helped us in being in the position that we are in right now.”

Churchill’s CEO Valanka Alemao said: “We have got our team’s combination right this year. There is a proper mix of youth and experience. Our senior players have been a guiding force for the youngsters and have surely proved a great motivating unit.”

“I have believed in this team since the start of the season. It has been a team effort and hats off to the team spirit. We require one point from the remaining two matches vs Mohun Bagan and Air India. I have faith in the boys and I am sure we will emerge victorious and win our second I-League title,” she told.

“I have full faith in God and this team. I’m sure the players will give their best and try to get all three points against Mohun Bagan. It would be great to win the title in front of all our fans,” club president Churchill Alemao added.
