Dempo SC bids farewell to Armando Colaco

Dempo Sports Club recently held a private dinner party at a city hotel to say good bye and thank you to their coach Armando Colaco whose contract is all set to expire on the 31st of this month. Attended by most of the players and non technical staff at the club, it was a perfect send off for the departing coach.

Armando took over the reins at the club in the year 2000. His journey with the club was an intense voyage, which saw them play in the 2nd Division, and also witnessed the clubs phenomenal rise in Indian football, winning five national league titles in the process.

However, with several changes into the squad plus his contract set to expire, Armando Colaco had to make way for the change in guard at the club. Speaking on the occasion, Armando said that he will carry great pride and passion towards the club. “It has been wonderful and unforgettable 13 years at the club and I will cherish those memories until my last breath. I was always a Dempo man and will continue to remain so,” said the coach.

Colaco expressed his gratitude for the chairman Shrinivas V. Dempo, the club and its fans for supporting and believing in him in difficult times. “I would like to thank Mr. Shrinivas Dempo for his support during some difficult moments of my career, especially this season when we suffered injuries to crucial players. I also thank to all the Dempo fans in India and abroad for their support and inspiration.”

Club Chairman Shrinivas V. Dempo acknowledged the achievements by Armando Colaco and wished him the very best. “We feel the moment has come where we need fresh Ideas with an experienced and youthful setup. Armando Colaco provided stability and success to our team, and we will always be grateful for his contributions over the last one decade. I wish him very best in the future,” said Dempo.
