Borussia Dortmund have defeated archrivals FC Bayern Munich 4-2 to win the German DFL Supercup 2013 on Saturday.
Dortmund took an early lead infront of a full capacity crowd at the very own Signal Iduna Park. Marco Reus put the hosts in the lead in the 6th minute, when the German international headed home a cross by Robert Lewandowski which led to a goalkeeping blunder by Tom Starke.
Bayern didn’t surrender and tested BVB keeper Roman Weidenfeller with various shots by Xherdan Shaqiri (10′ & 14′), Thomas Müller (14′) and Mario Mandzukic (35′). Arjen Robben finally scored the equaliser in the 54th minute.
But Dortmund took once again the lead seconds after Robben’s goal. Bayern defender Daniel van Buyten headed a cross by Ilkay Gündogan into the own net, while Gündogan himself increased the lead 57th minute.
Arjen Robben scored his second goal of the match in the 64th minute to give Bayern some new hope, but Marco Reus destroyed the hopes with a fine strike to seal Dortmund’s DFL Supercup win.
The DFL Supercup was broadcasted live in 195 countries, while a full capacity crowd of 80,645 fans enjoyed the entertaining game at the Signal Iduna Park.
