Sports Minister Fikile Mbalula to open the Soccerex African Forum

Soccerex is honoured to announce that South African Minister of Sport, the Honourable Fikile Mbalula will be speaking at the opening ceremony of the Soccerex African Forum 2013, 1-2 October, taking place at the Moses Mabhida Stadium, Durban.

South Africa has a rich history of sporting success both in terms of participation at and the hosting of major events such as the 2010 FIFA World CupTM, cricket’s T20 Champions League Tournament in 2012 and most recently the 2013 Orange African Cup of Nations. As a key member of the cabinet, Mr. Mbalula oversees the development of sport across the country, including its most popular sport, football.

Commenting on his involvement at the Forum, Mbalula said:

“I am very excited to be attending the Forum. Sport is an important part of our culture here in South Africa and football is the people’s game; grassroots development, facility management and commerciality are key focus points in South Africa currently and Soccerex is providing us with a platform to address these issues.”

Speaking on Mr. Mbalula’s involvement, Soccerex CEO Duncan Revie said:

“It is fantastic that Mr. Mbalula will be participating in the opening ceremony at the Soccerex African Forum. As the South African Minister of Sport, he is at the heart of South Africa’s sporting development and his insight into South Africa’s plans will be essential listening for all delegates.”

Minister Mbalula will be joining fellow Sports Ministers from Ghana, Nigeria, Rwanda, Zambia and Tanzania at the Soccerex African Forum along with over 1000 senior decision makers from across Africa in what will be the most Pan-African Forum yet.

The event will feature a detailed conference featuring some of the biggest names in football, with a packed exhibition and a programme of networking events offering a unique business for anyone engaged in African football.
