AFC Cup: Churchill Brother SC v New Radiant SC - Pre-Match Press Conference

Churchill Brothers SC will play host to New Radiant SC from the Maldives in a 2014 AFC Cup Group E clash at the Fatorda Stadium in Margao on Tuesday. The match will kick off at 17.30 IST.

The coaches of both sides faced the media during the pre-match press conference on Monday and New Radiant head coach Ismail Anil feels that his side will be up against a tough challenge tomorrow.

“We have not played any competitive matches this season except for our first AFC Cup match where we beat Home United of Singapore 1-0 in Maldives,” Anil told.

“We used that match as a preparation for our match versus Churchill Brothers who we know are a very good side.”

“We do have one or two injury concerns but we have players who can come into the team and take their places.”

“We are hoping for a very good game against Churchill Brothers,” the New Radiant coach added.

New Radiant captain Imran Mohamed said, “There has been a lot of changes from last year in terms of the players. Ali Asfaq, Maldives national team captain, who has been our leading goal scorer has moved to Malaysia. Yes we will miss his services, but I am confident with the players that we have, that we will play well tomorrow.”

Churchill Brothers head coach Mariano Dias is looking forward positively to the match despite various injuries in his squad. “We have a few injury concerns. Balwant Singh, Saran Singh and Lalit Thapa are doubtful of taking part in the match.”

“We will go out there and try to get all three points from this fixture, it is important for us to make maximum use of our home support and home conditions in the AFC Cup.”

“I would request the fans to come to the stadium and support us as we take on the champions of Maldives,” Dias told

Churchill Brothers player Anthony Wolfe: “We are looking forward to this match. Christian Lagos will make it back to the team and I hope to combine well with him up front and help the team in gaining all three points tomorrow.”

Churchill teammate Lenny Rodrigues asked the fans to come to the stadium and cheer for the Red Machines. “Magyar single Amche football mogikolle ani football porenarank ajir zaupak amche AFC matchik zi zatoli mungllradis, 11 tarker marsache 5.30 pm fatordache stadium. Amcho evkar sogleamk tumkam.”

New Radiant SC are on three points after they beat Home United of Singapore in the opening match while Churchill Brothers are yet to open their account after a 2-0 loss to Persipura jayapura in Indonesia.
