Hoffenheim stars looking forward to experience India

TSG 1899 Hoffenheim - India Tour 2014

Bundesliga side TSG 1899 Hoffenheim is ready to tour India after their final league match against Eintracht Braunschweig over this weekend. The Germans will touch down in the country on Monday, May 12 as part of a one-week long tour organised by Switzerland-based Adamant Sports Management AG with the support of Presenting Partners – the German Bundesliga and IT-major SAP.

“Only a few of us have been ever to India. We will experience many new things and it will be fascinating to see how the people live there. There will be probably many new impressions we need to cope with,” Poland international Eugen Polanski said.

Arunava Chaudhuri, Project Manager, Adamant Sports Management AG, said, “The 2014 India Tour will be a unique experience for the TSG 1899 Hoffenheim players and officials. They will travel to different parts of the country and experience the different facets of India, which you can rarely cover in a week’s time.”

Brazilian star Roberto Firmino is looking forward to get a first-hand feeling of Indian football and the match against a Mizoram XI featuring domestic star players like Indian internationals Jeje Lalpekhlua and Lalrindika Ralte.

“I’m really looking forward to the friendly match in Aizawl. I’m curious to know how the standard of Indian football is like and how much the people are interested in the game. One gets to know primarily about cricket, if you hear about India and sports,” Firmino said.

“Indian sports is mostly associated with cricket around the world and the knowledge about Indian football exists only few and far between. We at Adamant Sports are happy to introduce TSG 1899 Hoffenheim to India and to give them an idea about the country and its football. It will be an unforgettable experience for them not only from a football perspective, but also from a cultural and social angle,” Adamant Sports representative Chris Punnakkattu Daniel said.

German international Andreas Beck, Brazilian Roberto Firmino and Poland international Eugen Polanski will be spearheading the German side scheduled to visit Delhi, Aizawl, Kolkata and Goa.

But some will have to miss the India tour as Sejad Salihovic (Bosnia-Herzegovina), Fabian Johnson (USA) and Kevin Volland (Germany) as they have been called-up by their national federations for the 2014 FIFA World Cup, while Belgian goalkeeper Koen Casteels will miss the tour due to an injury.

Football fans addicted to social media will be able to follow and to be part of the football extravaganza on the various platforms with the use of the official hashtag #1899INDIA.
