In a move to strengthen their defence, Sporting Clube de Goa has unveiled Creson Antao as the latest Goan star to join the Flaming Oranje, at the SCG Head quarters, in Panjim on Tuesday.

Creson has joined from Panjim rivals Dempo Sports Club after the formalities were completed on Monday.

The 30 year old who hails from Majorda, could be thrown straight into the deep end and make his debut against Dempo in this Sunday’s sensational season opener, GFA charity match.

Creson enjoyed a successful period with his former club, where he helped them to win four I-League titles, but his fondest memory was reaching the semi-finals of the AFC Cup.

“Winning trophies is a great feeling and I came to Sporting Clube de Goa, to continue that trend,” stated Creson.

His favourite footballer is former team mate Denzil Theobald. “Each day he would motivate me to arrive half an hour early for practice, so we could work on our touch. He has played in the World Cup for Trinidad and Tobago and it was very encouraging for a player of that stature to take such an interest in local players,” explained Creson.

So far in pre-season he has carried on those good habits, as he is always one of the first to reach the training ground each morning.

“The players have made me feel at home very quickly, I like the atmosphere of the group,” remarked Creson who is looking to flourish at his new club.

The early signals have been promising as he put up a stellar performance, completing 45 minutes in a friendly match against Sesa FA last Saturday.

“Creson is a strong player, with good height and is comfortable on the ball. With his experience I am sure if he stays committed he can become an integral part of the team,” signed off Sporting Clube de Goa Head Coach Oscar Bruzon.
