“Boom, Boom, Boom” was the message heard loud and clear by the Sporting Clube de Goa team as they look to continue their inspiring form when they take on Santa Cruz Club of Cavelossim, in Round 5 of GFA’s Goa Pro League at Duler Stadium, Mapusa, on Thursday. The kick off time is 16.00 IST.

Sporting Goa coach Oscar Bruzon finished his session on Wednesday with a twenty minute video which included clips on Atletico Madrid’s formidable passing, as emphasized by the “boom”. The video went on to articulate the movement of Barcelona’s Sergio Busquets, before finishing with the killer punch of Real Madrid’s front line.

“After the result of the last game my players are slowly growing in confidence and starting to realize that they are playing for one of the top professional football clubs in India,” remarked Sporting Goa coach Oscar Bruzon.

Despite his side’s good start to the league, Cavelossim coach Severino Fernandes is not putting any pressure on his players. “We have a very young squad with a lot of potential. We are taking it one match at a time and so far I am very happy and confident with my player’s performance,” stated Severino.

In the last round Sporting Goa eased past Calangute 3-0, while Cavelossim returned to winning ways with a solitary goal win over Vasco.

Cavelossim are currently on nine points from four matches, while Sporting Goa is on five points from the same number of games.

The Sporting Goa defenders will have to keep their eyes focused on James Fernandes and Estevan Mendes who have netted two apiece this season. Mario Mascarenhas has also scored once in this campaign for Cavelossim.

Sporting Goa has also netted five goals and all have come courtesy of the boots of India international Victorino Fernandes who has simply been a revelation for the Flaming Oranje.
