Chennaiyin FC’s new signing Alessandro Nest faced the Indian media for the very first time as the Italian attended the pre-match press conference ahead of his club’s match against Delhi Dynamos FC on Tuesday.

“I don’t know much about the ISL,” the former AC Milan and Italy star, who arrived in India on Sunday, admitted. “I am learning from Marco (Materazzi) and everybody else now about it. It is going to be an interesting experience.”

“Every game is important so of course we would look to win and go into the semis in good form,” Nesta commented on the match against Delhi. “I had a good first session with the players today.”

“I don’t know if I will play tomorrow but if I do, I will try to help my team. It is going to be nice to face Del Piero but my focus will be to help Chennaiyin FC win.”

Chennaiyin FC player-cum-coach Marco Materazzi is expecting his team to win their final home game of the league stage at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Chennai.

“I have said this before, my team knows that top sides don’t have two bad games in a row. We want to win the last game before the semi-finals,” Materazzi said.

“We lost 4-1 against them in Delhi but tomorrow will be a fresh new game. I think the pressure is on Delhi as they need to win to qualify. We are already in the semis and will at least be second so we play first leg away in any case.”

“Mendoza was very important for us and we miss him. But we couldn’t get a striker as good as him so we bought one of the best-ever defenders in Alessandro Nesta,” the Italian signed off.
