The needs of the “Modern Fan” will be addressed at this year’s Soccerex Global Convention, 7-9 September, taking place at the Manchester Central Convention Complex. From social media to second and third screens, the media landscape has truly evolved and with it, the habits and expectations of football fans have too.

A number of experts such as Eurosport CEO, Peter Hutton, Getty Images Vice President of Sports Imagery & Services, Ken Mainardis, Livewire Sport Director, Andy McKenzie and Grabyo CEO, Gareth Capon, will be opening up to the industry on the way modern fans consume the game, both on matchdays and non-matchdays, as well as the requirements of the media involved and the potential impact on rights holder revenues.

With technology constantly evolving, so do the needs of fans, with social media now becoming a fundamental way for fans to connect with their clubs and players. Companies, leagues and brands are constantly adapting to this change to the way fans consume the game. The panel will feature a variety of stakeholders displaying how media companies are changing football’s modern consumption. Livewire, for example, are working with the Premier League to provide engaging and lively content to help grow the league’s social media audience and better reflect its reputation as the most exciting sports league in the world. Grabyo are working with broadcasters and rights holders to instantly create, distribute and monetise real-time video clips across any platform and device. Getty Images supply stock images for broadcasters and rights holders with an archive of 80 million still pictures. Eurosport, who were recently bought out by Discovery, provide sport coverage in 20 different languages as well as offering subscribers a chance to watch sport on all devices such as mobile phones and game consoles.

Soccerex CEO, Duncan Revie, said: “With fans being so fundamental to the world of football it is important we tackle this subject and I am delighted to have gathered such a relevant and diverse group of experts in this field”.

Modern fan consumption content is just part of a market leading conference programme at the Soccerex Global Convention addressing the key commercial, performance and stadia aspects of football. The above speakers join an impressive and diverse list of expert speakers that already include the likes of Davor Suker, Croatia Football Federation President and UEFA Executive Committee member, Don Garber, MLS Commissioner, Ian Ritchie, Rugby Football Union CEO, Dave Kaval, San Jose Earthquakes President, Martin Glenn, FA CEO and Javier Tebas, LaLiga President.

The Soccerex Global Convention brings together over 3000 of football’s elite over three days of a thought provoking conference programme packed with business insight, alongside a market-leading international exhibition and extensive networking.
