Mohammedan Sporting face Neroca FC in top of the table clash

Mohammedan Sporting Club

Mohammedan Sporting Club will have a tough task in hand when they take on league leaders Neroca FC in a crucial top of the table clash in the Eastern Conference of the Second Division League at the Khuman Lampak Main Stadium in Imphal on Saturday (December 12).

Both sides are unbeaten in the competition and occupied the top two positions in the league table with 7 points respectively from three games. Neroca FC are on top courtesy better goal average.

“It will be the most important game for us so far in the league. Neroca FC are a very strong team, especially in home conditions so we need to be very catious in our approach but in the same time we are thinking about nothing but full three points against them,” said Mohammedan Sporting head coach Subrata Bhattacharya Jr. on the eve of the clash.

However, the task at hand won’t be an easy one for Mohammedan as the Gift Raikhan coached side have played some spirited football in their previous outings and yet to concede a goal in the competition. Neroca FC has three foreigners Emeka Christian (forward), Joseph Ikechukwu (forward) and Jeremiah Elekwachi (defender) in their roster. Former India international Tomba Singh will be a key player for the hosts beside former Air India defender Syed Farid.

On the team news front Mohammedan will be boosted by the return of defender Rana Gharami, who missed the last league game on Tuesday due to personal reasons, while coach Subrata Bhattacharya Jr. also drafted in midfielder Hiralal Chhetri into the matchday squad. However, the rest of the squad is same from the last game against Fateh Hyderabad.

The match at Khuman Lampak Main Stadium will kick-off at 13.30 IST.
