Germany defender Antonio Rüdiger (23) ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during the German national team’s first training session at their UEFA EURO 2016 base in Évian, France yesterday.
“Die Mannschaft” arrived in the French city yesterday afternoon and Rüdiger suffered the injury during the trainig session in the evening. The AS Roma player went down after tackling Thomas Müller during the session in front of dozens of journalists and around 1,000 spectators.
Germany head coach Joachim Löw has decided to call-up 20 year old Bayer 04 Leverkusen youngster Jonathan Tah as a replacement. Tah had his senior team debut and only international cap so far during an international friendly match against England in March 2016.
Tah is expected to undergo his first traing session with the German national team on Thursday.
