20 players have been selected for the India U-16 Women’s National Team for the 2017 AFC U-16 Women’s Championship Qualifiers in Wei Fang, China, after a National Camp took place in Patiala, Punjab. The team will leave Indian shores on August 25, 2016 for China.

India’s road in the AFC U-16 Women’s Championship Qualifiers sees the Indian eves clubbed in Group B alongside the Philippines, Malaysia, Northern Marina Islands and Korea Republic.

The Indian eves clash swords against the Philippines in their opening match of the AFC U-16 Women’s Championship Qualifiers on August 28, 2016, before taking on Malaysia, Northern Mariana Islands and Korea Republic on September 1, 3 and 5, respectively.

“We are facing teams like Korea (Republic) and Malaysia, hence we have to be on top of our game if we are to defeat them”, Head Coach Maymol Rocky had earlier told AIFF Media.

“There is no room for complacency.”

Reflecting on the squad at hand, Maymol had said, “The girls are like rough diamonds. They have the potential to go a long way, but they need to work hard in order to evolve.”
