TAG Heuer celebrates the Bundesliga Legends Tour in Buenos Aires

In conjunction with the Bundesliga Legends Tour 2016, Swiss Watchmaker TAG Heuer, hosted an exclusive event in DOT Mall in the center of Buenos Aires with the presence of Lothar Matthäus and Oscar Ruggeri.

Back in 1986, the 2 players were giving their best performance on the field for the World Cup Final. It was an intense final, full of adrenaline, resistance and adversity from both teams. For every Argentinian this game is a unique memory. 30 years later, TAG Heuer invited the 2 legends of football, Lothar Matthäus – who was named in 1991 the first ever FIFA World Player of the Year, and was considered by Diego Maradona the best rival he ever had – and Oscar Ruggeri – who is considered the most successful defender of Argentina – to take up a football #DontCrackUnderPressure challenge in homage to this final.

At the heart of DOT Mall, next to the TAG Heuer Boutique and at the center of all attention, TAG Heuer transformed the space into a mini soccer field where journalists, football fans and other VIPs were able to be part of the TAG Heuer football challenge, a shot accuracy game where participants had to shoot as many goals as possible within a minute.

Sebastien Vignolo – Fox Sports – hosted this special event, and warmly welcomed Lothar Matthäus and Oscar Ruggeri with the presence of Bruno Duchene, Regional Sales Director for TAG Heuer, and xxx from DARSSA official distributor for Argentina. On the stage, Lothar Matthäus went back on his impressive career, his challenges …(more details when we know about the interview)

The highlight of the event was when Lothar Matthäus followed by Oscar Ruggeri opened the game and kicked the first balls. Then, some of the guests took on the challenge and used of their best skills – precision, intensity and dexterity – to compete with the 2 legends.  It was a true moment of football fun with a passionate and joyful audience.

About TAG Heuer & Global Football

Sports timekeeping is part of TAG Heuer’s DNA. The company has a strong history as a sports timekeeper and over the last 100 years has timed all manner of sports at the highest level, including sailing, skiing and of course motor sport. It all began in 1911 with a patent for a device called ‘Time of Trip’, a dashboard chronograph for cars and aircraft. That was followed in 1916 by the introduction of the Mikrograph, the world’s first 1/100th of a second chronograph. The Swiss company also famously developed state-of-the-art timing systems for Formula 1 in the 1970s, heralding the birth of the precision sport we know today.

Since 2015, with Jean-Claude Biver, TAG Heuer CEO and President of the LVMH Watch Division at the helm, the watch brand enhanced its presence in global sports, and football in particular, becoming Official Timekeeper and Official Watch for the most prestigious and iconic names, leagues, organizations, and people who share similar values and a strong vision.

“Football is the most popular sport in the world. Football is like a language between people or a religion. With football, we communicate passion, emotion, joy, dreams, team spirit, organization, strategy and finally victory, values that are also carried by our brand and more importantly by the people who buy and wear our watches.” says Jean-Claude Biver.

Europe, North America, Asia, Australia, all our partnerships provide the perfect geographic complement with our marketing activities and commercial presence around the globe, including the German Bundesliga, the Premier League, the Spanish LaLiga, the American Major League Soccer (MLS) with the US Soccer Federation & Professional Referee Organization, the Chinese Football Association Super League, the Copa America, the International Champions Cup, and the Australia’s men’s national team. The brand has also a global ambassador from the world of football, the legendary Cristiano Ronaldo, since 2014.
