The India U-17 National Team presently in Goa preparing for the  FIFA U-17 World Cup India 2017 trained under National Coach Stephen Constantine in Goa today (February 20, 2017). Constantine will be working with the boys this week till Saturday (February 25, 2017).

“We needed to ensure that till the appointment of the Head Coach of the U-17 National Team the training session is properly coordinated. So we asked National Coach Stephen Constantine and his team to go to Goa for a week to assist the training of the boys,” Kushal Das, General Secretary, AIFF stated. “We hope to appoint the new Coach as soon as possible,” he added.

Constantine who guided India to the SAFF Suzuki Cup crown and will lead the Senior Team in the AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers 2019 next month said he is happy to “help AIFF in this time of need.”

“My purpose is to help them maintain the fitness levels of the boys and it gives us a chance to work on other things as well. I will be able to have close look them as they could be the players for the future.”

Besides Constantine, Goalkeeping Coach Rogerio Ramos, Sports Scientist Danny Deigan and National Team Assistant Coach Shanmugam Venkatesh would also be working with the boys.

The FIFA U-17 World Cup India 2017 kicks-off on October 6, 2017.
