Charlie Stillitano, Chairman and co-founder Relevent Sports, has been added to the conference line up for the Soccerex Global Convention 2017, Manchester, UK, 4-6 September. Stillitano will be sharing his experiences in establishing the International Champions Cup (ICC) as a fixture in the global football calendar and the recent expansion of the competition which now sees matches taking place in countries such as the United States, China and Singapore.

Stillitano is undoubtedly one of the most experienced and influential US figures in world football having been at the heart of football’s growth in the US since the very beginning. He served as Venue Executive Director for the New York & New Jersey venue at the 1994 FIFA World CupTM USA before going on to  serve as Vice President and General Manager of the New York/New Jersey Metro Stars; one of the original Major League Soccer (MLS) franchises, that went on to become the New York Red Bulls.

Following stints with Metromedia Soccer Properties and ChampionsWorld, Stillitano joined Creative Artists Agency (CAA) and there established the World Football Challenge, an international tournament featuring MLS sides and teams from Europe during their pre-season. After the 2012 edition of the tournament, CAA sold the rights to RSE Ventures and the International Champions Cup was born with Stillitano also making the move to join RSE’s football event arm, Relevent Sports.  Stillitano also hosts a daily radio show on Sirius XM entitled “The Football Show” which regular features the game’s biggest names.

At the Soccerex Global Convention in Manchester, Stillitano will be talking about the early days of the tournament, and its growing importance to football in the US, Europe and Asia. He will also discuss how Relevent have managed the tournament’s expansion to include games in Europe, with 2016 seeing games taking place in Sweden, Ireland, Scotland and England as well as Australia and China, with Singapore set to host games for the first time in 2017.

Stillitano will be part of an extensive and thought provoking conference programme at the Global Convention, designed to deliver unique business insight across a variety of football’s key sectors. The programme will feature experts tackling subjects ranging from stadia design, sponsorship, and international investment, to the latest in wearable technology and the rise of influencer marketing.
