Following a report presented to the FIFA Council at its meeting in Bahrain beginning of May, continued support has been expressed for the FIFA World Football Museum from the strategic and oversight body of FIFA.

FIFA set up a task force at the end of 2016 in order to fully review operations at the museum and consider a new model aimed at ensuring financial stability and transforming the FIFA World Football Museum into a sustainable investment to the satisfaction of all stakeholders. A new business model has resulted in a significantly improved financial situation at the museum with a more responsible economic approach focused on the museum becoming a hub of football research and cultural exchange, for both the local community in Zurich as well as football fans from across the globe. The task force will continue to monitor activities at the museum in order to oversee the implementation of the new operating model.

“We are definitely on the right track,” said FIFA Deputy Secretary General Zvonimir Boban. “Culture and sport are part of the key values of modern society. We want to continue strengthening these values and turn the FIFA World Football Museum into a true meeting place for everyone in Zurich.”
