FIFA U-17 World Cup hosts India to face tough opponents in Group A

The Official Draw for the FIFA U-17 World Cup India 2017 brought six interesting groups for the first-ever FIFA tournament on the Indian subcontinent.

Former FIFA U-17 World Cup champion Nwankwo Kanu, Argentinian legend Esteban Cambiasso, Indian national team captain Sunil Chhetri and Indian badminton star PV Sindhu conducted the draw at the Sahara Star Hotel in Mumbai, while high-profile dignitaries, delegates and celebrities from all around the world graced the occasion.

The 24 qualified teams were allocated to four pots of six teams each, based on a ranking built according to past sporting performance.

The Indian U-17 national team will face ???, ??? and ??? in Group A. The Group A matches will be played at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi.

The 17th edition of the FIFA U-17 World Cup will kick-off at Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on October 6 as hosts India take on the United States, while the final will be held at the Saltlake Stadium in Kolkata on October 28.
