FIFA U-17 World Cup India 2017 – Matchday 11 – Round-up

FIFA U-17 World Cup India 2017

Iran have advanced to the quarter-finals of the FIFA U-17 World Cup India 2017 with their fourth win from four matches at the tournament.

“Team Melli” registered a 2-1 win against Mexico, while two early goals were enough for them to get through to the next round. Mohammad Sharifi (7′) and Allahyar Sayyad (11′) found the back of the net for Iran.

European champions Spain secured their quarter-final spot courtesy to a late Abel Ruiz penalty goal against France.

Lenny Pintor opened the score sheet for the French side, but Spain equalised through Juan Miranda moments before the breather. Spain were awarded a spot-kick in the dying moments of the match, when everyone was expecting a penalty shoot-out at the full-time whistle. FC Barcelona B star Abel Ruiz converted the penalty to the delight of the Spain fans.

Mali cruised to a 5-1 victory over Iraq in their Round of 16 match. Lassana Ndiaye was the star performer with his brace for the West Africans.

England won the fourth match of the day in a penalty shootout after scoreless draw against Japan.
