Delhi to hold trials for their Santosh Trophy state team

The Delhi Soccer Association (DSA) will hold a open selection trial-cum-coaching camp from December 16 onwards at the Dr. Ambedkar Stadium to select the Delhi senior state football team for participation in the North Zone leg of the Senior National Football Championship for the Santosh Trophy scheduled to be held in Uttar Pradesh from January 15, 2018.

Meanwhile, the DSA has constituted a selection committee consisting of Qurram Raza as chairman; Anadi Barua as Convenor; Rakesh Joshi, Hafiz Shahid, V.C. Bhatt and Bankim Dutta as members . The registration of players, only of Delhi region, registered prior to November 1, 2017 will be done with Rakesh Joshi and Magan Singh Patwal, Joint Secretaries between December 13 to 15 from 5pm to 8pm at the DSA office, Dr. Ambedkar Stadium.

The name of the coaching staff will be decided in the DSA MC meeting scheduled on December 14. The selection committee will short list 50 probables by December 18 which again will be be pruned to 30 probables including 8 player of the Under-21 age category by December 22 as per AIFF guidelines.

The final list of 20 players including 5 Under-21 players will be declared by December 24.

The final team of the selected players will start practice from December 25 onwards. However, players from their respective clubs participating in the upcoming DSA Super League will be exempted from the combined practice. The selection committee will also take into consideration of the past performance of the probables in the league ahead of selection.
