Mohammedan Sporting Club continued their superb form in the U-13 Youth League, as they thrashed East Bengal 4-0 to log their eighth successive win in Kolkata Zonal Round at Kamalgazi Sorts Complex on Sunday afternoon.

Mohammedan SC who led 2-0 at interval thanks to a goal each from Irfan Mondal (28′) and Sahil Ghosh (35+1′), struck two quick goals in second-half through Sujay Buduk (52′) and Koushik Paul (54′).

The Young Panthers enjoyed the early dominance in the match, though they were nearly stunned in the 6th minute when East Bengal striker Jit Sarkar let fly with the left foot and clipped the top of the crossbar.

In the 26th minute it was the hosts’ turn to be denied by the woodwork, as winger Rajesh Singh got a shot away from just inside the penalty area, but watched in frustration as the ball rebounded to safety off the inside of the post.

However, the Young Panthers claimed the lead in less than two minutes, as defender Irfan Mondal took advantage of some poor marking at a corner kick to score with a superb diving header.

The hosts didn’t have to wait long for the second goal to arrive as winger Sahil Ghosh played a one-two with skipper Sujay Buduk before firing home a shot from inside the box, giving East Bengal keeper Tritam Lodh no chance.

The visitors tried to fought back in the second-half, as striker Ratan Burman almost scored a superb solo goal, only to see his chip over keeper Afroz Ahmed rebound off the post.

However, any thoughts East had of a comeback went up in smoke in the 52nd minute when substitute Koushik Paul played a superb pass to put Sujay through and the striker made no mistake one-on-one with the keeper and made it 3-0 Mohammedan SC.

Two minutes later Koushik went from provider to scorer when he ran onto a fine pass from midfielder Bhuto Singh before guiding a shot beyond Tritam to make it 4-0 and wrap up a great afternoon for the Young Panthers.

Mohammedan Sporting now have perfect 24 points from 8 outing and will host HDSA next on 7 Januray 2017.
