Kerala Blasters welcomes David James as Head Coach

Kerala Blasters Football Club has appointed, David James as the new manager for the ongoing Indian Super League (ISL) season. David James was the marquee player and manager for Kerala Blasters FC during the inaugural season of the Hero ISL and led the club into the final in the same season.

David started his playing career with Watford and went on to feature in the Premier League for Liverpool, Aston Villa, West Ham United, Manchester City and Portsmouth. He gained a Football League Cup winner’s medal with Liverpool in 1995, an FA Cup winner’s medal with Portsmouth in 2008. He joined Icelandic side ÍBV Vestmannaeyjar in 2013 in a joint playing and coaching capacity, before officially retiring.

“It is an honour to be given the opportunity to manage a team I fell in love with back in 2014. KBFC is a club that follows the values of their region with passion and support. I look forward to a new chapter in the history of the Club and for me too,” said David James.

He has been with us during the first ISL season and his understanding of the team and past interaction with them will be helpful to work with the team in an engaging manner at this juncture,” said Kerala Blasters FC CEO Varun Tripuraneni.
