Victorino Fernandes stars in Goa’s thumping win over Rajasthan

Goa scored a thumping 14-0 win over Rajasthan in the zonal of the 72nd National Football Championship for the Santosh Trophy, held at The Arena, at Ahmedabad, on Wednesday.

Goa started the match on an attacking intent and didn’t take long before they scored the first through Dempo SC striker Beevan D’Mello. The goal opened the floodgates as they doubled the lead through Peter Carvalho.

Goa showed their supremacy over their rivals as they scored their third through Victorino Fernandes. Mackroy Peixoto scored the fourth before the captain Victorino completed his brace to send his team 5-0 up at the break.

Crossing over, Sporting Clube de Goa striker showed utter class as he completed his hattrick. Mackroy Peixoto scored his second along with Clinton Niasso, who also registered a brace.

Nickson Casthana, Jessel, Kapil Hoble and Shubert also got on to the scoresheet for Goa. Goa will next play Gujarat on January 12.
