The DFL Deutsche Fußball Liga today released the exact schedule for the remaining Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 matches from the 28th matchday until the end of the season. Due to the statutory public holiday on Good Friday (30 March 2018) and the rights situation, the televised Bundesliga match that would normally be scheduled for Friday – in this case, the meeting between Hertha Berlin and VfL Wolfsburg – will, as an exception, take place on Saturday, 31 March 2018 (8:30 p.m.). There are no fixtures on Maundy Thursday (29 March) due to the established practice of avoiding matches on the Thursday after a FIFA international break.

The last two of the five Monday Bundesliga matches will be the fixture between RB Leipzig and Bayer 04 Leverkusen on the 29th matchday on 9 April 2018 and the fixture between 1. FSV Mainz 05 and Sport-Club Freiburg on the 30th matchday on 16 April 2018 (both 8:30 p.m.).

The Leipzig fixture takes account of the fact that the club may be playing in the quarter-finals of the Europa League the preceding Thursday. The reason for scheduling matches on Mondays is to allow for longer recovery times in such cases. At the request of the security institutions, Borussia Dortmund, the second potential Europa League quarter-finalist from the Bundesliga, will face FC Schalke 04 on Sunday, 15 April 2018. FC Schalke 04 will also play in the semi-finals of the DFB-Cup the following Wednesday (18 April). As the aim is for clubs not participating in European competition to only be scheduled to play on Monday once a season, the fixture between 1. FSV Mainz 05 and Sport-Club Freiburg has now been moved to the start of the week.

As usual, all of the matches on the 33rd and 34th matchdays of Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 will take place simultaneously on 5 and 12 May 2018 and 6 and 13 May 2018 respectively. However, if RB Leipzig and/or Borussia Dortmund play in the semi-finals of the Europa League on Thursday, 3 May 2018, DFL reserves the right to reschedule the 33rd matchday fixtures between RB Leipzig and VfL Wolfsburg and/or Borussia Dortmund and 1. FSV Mainz 05 for Sunday, 6 May 2018. A decision will be taken immediately after the return legs of the quarter-finals in the European competitions in mid-April.

As fixtures cannot be scheduled for Good Friday, five Bundesliga 2 fixtures on the 28th matchday on Easter weekend will take place on Sunday as an exception. All of the Bundesliga 2 matches on the 33rd and 34th matchdays will kick off at 3:30 p.m. on 6 and 13 May 2018 respectively.
