Reigning champions Chhinga Veng FC will have a chance to retain their crown after seeing off Mizoram Police FC in the second semifinal of the Lalbiakliana Memorial MFA Super Cup played at Lammual on Friday, July 20.

A bright start from a newly invigorated Mizoram Police FC saw them take a two goal lead even before the half hour mark. An own goal from Lalrinchhana and a strike from Lalsangbera gave Mizoram Police an early advantage.

Chhinga Veng FC pulled one back when Lalremruata was brought down inside the penalty area by the Mizoram Police custodian. M.S. Dawngliana made no mistake in the resulting spot kick.

Last season’s treble winners took advantage of the half-time break and found their rhythm early on in the second half. And it wasn’t long before they found an equaliser. Lalmawizuala provided the ball for M.S. Dawngliana to grab his second of the game.

After both sides failed to find a winner inside 90 minutes, it was Chhinga Veng FC who struck again in the second period of extra-time. Lalmuansanga scored the all-important goal to put his side through to the final where they will face Chanmari FC.
