Electric Veng FC began their season in the most emphatic fashion as they pulled off an unlikely win against two time MPL champions Aizawl FC.

First half goals from Isak Vanlalpeka and Vanlalhmangaiha were enough to ensure three points for the MPL newcomers.

Aizawl FC did pull one back through Lalkhawpuimawia in the 85th minute but it was too little too late, as their relentless pressure in the second half could not yield in enough goals to earn a point.

Electric Veng FC will be bouyed by their morale-boosting victory against formidable opposition and they could have had more had it not been for some sloppy play in the final third.

They will now face Chanmari FC on Monday afternoon while Aizawl FC await the same opponents on Thursday evening.
