The India U-20 National Team went down 0-3 to Mauritania U-20 in their second match of the COTIF Tournament in Valencia, Spain on July 31, 2018.

The Indians were without five of their regular players as Rahul KP, Sanjeev Stalin and Rahim Ali had to sit out due to injuries. Furthermore, suspensions to the two central defenders Anwar Ali and Jitendra Singh further depleted India.

Although the Indian colts initiated attacks in the opening minutes of the match and Amarjit Singh’s shot came close to taking the lead in the 18th minute, it was their opponents who broke the deadlock and took the lead in the 25th minute. Mauritania took advantage of disruption in the Indian defence to score the first goal.

Changing over, Aniket Jadahv’s shot in the 59th minute earned a decent save from the opponent goalkeeper to keep Mauritania in the match.

However, in the 71st minute, the opponents double the lead to make it 2-0.

Seven minutes later, Mauritania breached the Indian citadel once again and scored their third goal.

The Indian U-20 National Team next play the Venezuela U-20 National Team on August 3, 2018.
