Bayern Munich beat Manchester United to lift Telekom Sport Trophy

FC Bayern München

Bundesliga champions FC Bayern Munich registered a 1-0 win against Premier League giants Manchester United in a pre-season match, the Telekom Sport Trophy, at the Allianz Arena on Sunday evening.

Bayern dominated the match between the record champions of Germany and England, as both sides enter the final phase of their pre-season. Manchester United will kick-off their Premiership campaign on Friday, while Bayern start their season with the German Super Cup match on Sunday.

Spanish international Javi Martínez scored the lone goal of the match in the 59th minute. The Spaniard headed home from a curling corner to beat Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea.

José Mourinho had to cope with the absence of his 2018 FIFA World Cup participants in Manchester United’s final pre-season game and the gaffer looked unhappy with just a few days to go for the first league game.

Bayern returned to their pre-season training camp in Tegernsee and have one more friendly against local side FC Rottach-Egern on Wednesday before kicking off the 2018/19 season.
