Defending Mizoram Premier League (MPL) champions Chhinga Veng FC narrowly avoided a slip up as they overcame a vibrant Bethlehem Vengthlang FC team with a 2-1 victory.

Chhinga Veng FC had shipped a goal late in the first half when Laldinliana Varte curled in a beauty to give Bethlehem Vengthlang FC the advantage.

It was a well earned lead for BVT as they had been the slightly better side in a quiet first half. Their youthful endeavour ensured Chhinga Veng FC had to fight to keep possession although the champions did produce goal threats from attacker MS Dawngliana in the first half.

Things were different in the second half as Chhinga Veng FC’s coach Lalsangzuala Hmar shook it up with the introduction of Lalrammawia.

The utility man came close to scoring twice early on and Chhinga Veng FC duly earned their equaliser when F. Lalnuntluanga struck a long range effort in the 69th minute.

Jacob Lalrawngbawla added a second for Chhinga Veng FC two minutes later which ensures maximum points in two games for the defending champions.
