Global interest in #DerKlassiker: Borussia Dortmund vs FC Bayern Munich

Bundesliga

Bundesliga fans in Germany and beyond can hardly wait for this season’s first Klassiker: The encounter between league leader Borussia Dortmund and German champions FC Bayern Munich is once again drawing huge interest around the world. The match will be broadcast in more than 200 of the 211 FIFA member countries on Saturday (6:30 p.m. CET). Bundesliga’s media partners will be able to access the live feed from the stadium produced by the DFL subsidiary Sportcast using more than 20 cameras.

Furthermore, in addition to the domestic media partners, at least ten international TV networks will also be there at Dortmund’s SIGNAL IDUNA PARK with their own teams. FOX Sports USA, FOX Sports Netherlands, FOX Sports South America, Sky Italy, beIN Sports Middle East, beIN Sports France, Eleven Sports Poland, Eleven Sports Belgium, Viasat/Viaplay Sweden and Viasat/Viaplay Norway will be reporting live from the stadium with commentary in their respective languages and interviews with players and experts. “We are delighted by the enormous international media interest in the match between Borussia Dortmund and FC Bayern, which once again highlights the appeal of German professional football and the growing enthusiasm for the Bundesliga internationally,” said Holger Blask, DFL’s Director of Audiovisual Rights and member of the DFL’s Executive Committee.

If the current trend of the 2018–19 Bundesliga season continues, fans can look forward to an exciting top match: There have been more than three goals per match on average on the first ten matchdays. No other top league in Europe has seen so many goals this season – Bundesliga’s average of 3.1 goals per match puts it ahead of the English Premier League (2.8), the French Ligue 1 (2.7), the Italian Serie A (2.7) and the Spanish La Liga (2.5).
