Devendra Murgaonkar and Ronaldo Oliveira heroics saw Salgaocar Football Club humiliate Calangute Association 7-3 in a GFA Goa Pro League match played at Utorda Sports Complex, on Monday.

The striking pair of Devendra scored a treble and Ronaldo netted a brace while Stephen Satarkar and Sanson Pereira scored the other goals for the Greens.

Despite starting brightly, Salgaocar FC were stunned by Mohammed Shahsad 16th minute goal when he intercepted Salgaocar’s Daniel Gomes’ back pass before slotting past Salgaocar keeper S Rajini.

Minutes later, Calangute Association claimed for a handball in the when Nicolau Colaco’s strike brushed Salgaocar’s Godfrey Mascarenhas arm in the penalty box but referee showed no interest and let the play on. At the other end, of the same counter, Salgaocar’s Samson Pereira played a delicious aerial ball in the box which was met by striker Devendra Murgaonkar, but his header narrowly missed the mark.

Salgaocar FC had yet another opportunity when Devendra played a sublime lofted pass to Ronaldo who waited to get the ball on the right foot and shot straight at goal, but much to his dismay, his well executed shot was saved by Calangute keeper Shubham Naik.

After much probing, Salgaocar drew level when Rollwin Almeida found Devendra Murgaonkar with a low cross, whose effort gave no chance for the rival keeper, 1-1.

Once on level terms Salgaocar FC went all out with Devendra and Ronaldo combining well upfront and the duo tormented the rival defence with their breathtaking pace and poaching abilities infront of the goal.

Salgaocar took the lead in the 38th minute through Devendra once again as he put finishing touches to Mackroy Peixoto’s initial spade work.

Calangute’s Domnic missed glorious chance to restore parity just before the breather but Salgaocar keeper Rajini was brilliant to deny the striker from scoring on two occasions.

Post resumption Domnic’s came close to scoring when he rounded off the Salgaocar defence only to see his low shot cleared off the line by Salgaocar FC Daniel.

At the other end, Salgaocar FC inflated their lead through Sanson before Devendra completed his hat-trick when he tapped in from close range after a well-executed Salgaocar FC corner.

Dominic finally got on to the score sheet when he shot from distance which had no answer from the Salgaocar keeper.

Just when it looked like Calangute were getting back into the game, Ronaldo scored the team’s fifth guiding in Sanson’s delivery to make it 5-2.

Shashad once again reduced the margin for Calangute in the 74th minutes off a solo effort to make it 5-3.
Ronaldo also completed his brace in the 89th minutes when he dribbled past couple of rival defenders and shot past the helpless keeper.

Salgaocar scored their seventh through Satarkar when he tapped-in to Ronaldo’s pass.
