Mizoram Juniors beat Punjab to lift 2018/19 Dr. B.C. Roy Trophy

The Mizoram junior team celebrating the Junior Boys National Football Championship for the Dr B.C. Roy Trophy (Tier-I) title at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack, Odisha.

The junior boys of Mizoram have been crowned the champions of the Junior Boys National Football Championship for the Dr B.C. Roy Trophy (Tier-I) in Cuttack.

Mizoram beat Punjab 2-1 in the final at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack, Odisha on Sunday afternoon.

In the final, Punjab had gone ahead through a 20th minute goal by M. Singson but the lead only lasted three minutes with H.P. Lalremruata equalising for Mizoram. At the break it was 1-1.

The winner came for Mizoram in the 83rd minute when John Lalmuanpuia scored off a penalty.

Asirbad Behera, honorary secretary of the OAA was present as the Chief Guest, while former India international defender Mahesh Gawli was present as the Guest of Honour and awarded the Medals and Trophies to both the teams.

The other dignitaries who were Football Association of Odisha officials Bijaya Das (Vice-President), Bhakta Ballav Das (Vice-President), Avijit Paul (Joint Secretary), Sangeeta Sharma (Joint Secretary) and Mohammed Shahid Jabbar.
