Arminia Bielefeld dismiss head coach Jeff Saibene

DSC Arminia Bielefeld

DSC Arminia Bielefeld has sacked their head coach Jeff Saibene and assistant coach Carsten Rump with immediate effect the Bundesliga 2 club announced today.

The decision was made by Arminia Bielefeld after poor results in the ongoing 2018/19 season which has left the club stranded at 14th position in the league table facing the relegation battle. Bielefeld have 15 points to their tally from 16 matches in the Bundesliga 2 season so far.

Saibene joined Bielefeld on March 20, 2017 and helped the club to avoid relegation in the 2016/17 season. The 50 year old Luxembourgian coach then managed to lead the club to a fourth-place finish in the 2017/18 Bundesliga 2 season narrowly missing out a chance of playing the Bundesliga promotion play-offs.

Arminia Bielefeld have also decided to dismiss assistant coach Carsten Rump. Rump has served for the club as a player and assistant coach for the U-23 team, before he earned a promotion as assistant coach of the first team in July 2016. Bielefeld has announced that they would hold talks with Rump in the coming weeks and months to find a new assignment for him at the club.

Arminia Bielefeld will take a decision on the new head coach shortly.
